Gojee, the gorgeous, discovery-focused site that curates food and drink recipes, is finally launching native iPhone, iPad and Android apps after months of suspense. The new apps, which follow the site’s full-screen, image-centric appeal, are now live in their respective app stores.

According to Gojee, its new mobile suite is “one-part curation, one-part recommendation engine, and one-part minimalist design sensibility. Each of these parts working together create the magic behind Gojee.” The company’s director of design, Adam Meisel, explains its priority of aesthetics:

Rather than focus on utility, our goal has always been to create an aspirational and emotional experience. These channels deliver utility on a whole new level.

New Verticals

As you might have caught at the end of that teaser video, which was first released six months ago, Gojee clearly has plans to expand far beyond food and drinks. To this, the company told TNW that the video’s a “bit of a teaser of whats to come…”

Our core vision is to create the future of visual consumption on the mobile web.

One of our overarching goals is to help define and carve out a mobile experience that’s emotional and pleasurable. With the release of our iPad, iPhone and Android apps, we’re one step closer to that reality and Winter 2012 will begin the next phase of bringing the visual web to our users through an expansion of the platform.

With its newly arrived mobile presence, new verticals completely change Gojee’s potential reach, from a niche, enjoyable app into a new vision of how content can be displayed. In fact, judging from the teased categories, there’s potential that Gojee could even move into the commerce space, challenging the likes of Gilt and Fab.

In September of last year, Gojee announced its $1.2 million seed round led by San Francisco’s Kapor Capital and a new advisor, Brad Hunstable, who is the current President and Co-Founder of Ustream.
