Give that Instagram look to any photo with Rollip

Give that Instagram look to any photo with Rollip

The current crop of photo sharing apps like Instagram and PicPlz have made filter effects a popular way of adding some extra vim to your shots. What if you want to give the ‘retro’ look to photos that aren’t on your phone though?

Rollip.com offers a quick and easy way to add a selection of 40 original filters to your pictures. The choice ranges from vintage looks to styled lens effects and glows. Just browse through the filter previews, upload your photo, apply the filter and after a short wait for the effect to be added, you’re done. You then get the option to download a preview or process and download the finished photo at full resolution.

The results look great too – and unlike many good quality photo filters out there, these are free. Rollip’s Maurice Sikkink tells us that professional photographers now use the service, which recently switched focus from providing “Low quality Polaroid conversions” to these new, great looking effects.

It has to be said that it’s not quite perfect as a web app – we’d love the ability to preview multiple effects on an uploaded photo before applying the one that works best. Instead, you set the effect before uploading your photo.

Rollip is currently monetised via advertising, although Sikkink says that the Amsterdam-based venture may well start charging for hi-res conversions in future while keeping the smaller 1000×800 pixel conversion option free.

So, if you’ve looked on with envy at those gorgeous-looking Instagram shots that your friends share, it’s well worth giving Rollip a trip today.
