Just a quick hit here, as the update isn’t a huge deal. However, for those of you who love the official Twitter client for Android, it’s a welcome change.
According to the Twitter Help Center, the new update will finally give us Auto Refresh, and fixes a bug with People Search. The new release is supposed to be faster, as well.
Version 1.0.2 is what you’re looking for, in the Android Market. If it’s not there yet, it should be soon.

Love the pic – image credit? – love to know where it came from.
Wonder when they’ll add multi-account support

Still prefer twidroyd though.. More features.
Thanks Brad.
cr0wnest – I’ve been using twidroyd (pro) as well, but keep coming back to the twitter app. It’s the speed + simplicity. Oh, and it’s in the marketplace now… Update away.
Never have been happy with this app. D/L it from Market while still running firmware 2.1. Now, it comes fully embedded in the Froyo 2.2 Update – argh! I simply opt not to run it or allow it to sync with my phone. It’s obtrusive, no way to schedule tweets, and it’s poorly designed.
I’m one of the people who was getting null pointer exceptions thrown up when I did a people or follower search and I installed the update and did a full reboot just now. It’s still not working properly. #Fail
Thank you, Hugh! Finally. Someone else not bowing at the totem of the great Twitter, Inc. app. It’s an antiquated API and they need to rebuild it from the ground up. Stop with these miniscule tweaks hoping that a Droid using populace are going to be placated. NOTICE: When this app is running with full capacity to sync tweets, contacts, et al., it takes up at least or more than 15megs of your phone’s internal memory…far too much for the little this app offers users in return!
The other thing that really annoys me is that since I updated my Nexus One to FroYo the App is embedded and I can’t delete it. Why is this annoying?
From my perspective (if I was a hardware manufacturer or a software designer) I wouldn’t let any software that was so buggy onto my system. It isn’t good enough. So why should my users suffer because your application doesn’t work properly? I’m sure there was solid thinking behind it but as soon as the problems became apparent then Google should have pulled the app and told Twitter to get their house in order.
I also have a massive problem with the Facebook for Android app also. It is useless. So useless that I don’t even use it anymore.
Hugh, if you or I were software designers it would be against the “honor code”, that or FCC rulings, to allow us to create downloadable software without providing a user the option to delete the application. If there’s no ability to delete the app, then what’s the difference from it and Malware?
I have been having an ongoing email war with Twitter, Inc.since
the beginning of July. Their support team is useless! and all they do now is blame all problems on Google. Suppose Google & Facebook saw quite the payday for having their wares embedded in the FroYo rollout
Sorry, I’m getting angrier and my feedback is making no sense. Believe the above should read that “Twitter & Facebook saw great pay-outs for having their less than palatable wares embedded in the FroYo update. SUGGESTION: Go into Settings and keep these apps from synching with your phone; they are made privy to too much information, which we’re made to agree to by default.
I still prefer ThryartDroaiyd
