WordPress is by far the most popular blogging platform. It is a flexible enough CMS with a strong developer community, and a plethora of templates. We all use it.
Today I am going to pass along a small tip to the blogging masses. You may have been using WordPress for years (like me), and never pressed this button (like me again). Push this button:
Do you still have your socks on? If so, I bet that you already knew about full screen blogging. If not, you are welcome. I can say this, full screen WordPress on a 24″ monitor is a thing of beauty. TGIF, everyone.

My mouth dropped open. How have I never NOTICED THIS? And me usually blogging on a teeny-tiny little laptop…
I know right? Best free tool of the month.
Thanks for the tip. Can’t believe I never saw this before.. I’ll be using it now.
Cheers!
Indeed, I have to pass it along.
How could I have missed it? I am always trying to expand manually the text field to see more…
I did the same in Chrome, but this is much better.
I am alreay in ful screen all day long with Chrome…
Oh, right. I meant that in Chrome (a webkit based browswer), you can expand the text input area inside of WordPress. This button is much cleaner.
Haha, I was I in the middle of a blog in WP and was just thinking, “darn, this window is so small” and then read this. LOL
Thanks!
Just fyi, that little magic button also exists in CKEditor (which I use on my Drupal blogs), as well as in TinyMCE (and probably a few other wysiwygs).
Makes it really easy to focus on the writing part of blogging.
Good call Jeff…I use it on all our drupal sites…great help.
a classic case of the so-much-technology-to-learn-so-little-time. While I found that button early on, your story makes me wonder what I HAVE missed! We all learn from each other. Thanks for sharing the love!
As a recent new blogger, I started out using (often struggling) the tiny input field and thought, “No way… Surely WordPress don’t expect users to write their posts like this.” I looked for the function a few weeks back, figuring it had been there all along. It does make you wonder what other features we are missing, though
haha, I dont like my wordpress post page in full screen. I use Word and copy paste it to the post page. :)
