Neowin has uncovered screenshots of the forthcoming Windows Live Messenger 2010. To put it bluntly, yuck.
The functionality, however, seems to be much improved. The release appears to contain the importing of a social stream (presumably from your Windows Live experience), and tabbed conversations. Tabbed conversations, at last. Thank you Microsoft.
However, the wrapper on the candy makes us not want to pick it up for a taste. Take a look, are you going to use this?

Microsoft always has such gorgeous UIs. Like Internet Explorer..
Do we have a choice? I haven’t made up my mind. I’m a tech dummy so for me, less is more ;)
Wow, the ad blocks keep on getting bigger and bigger. That’s why I hate the hotmail/livemail
account. I have a hotmail account just for my xbox360.
I think that MS should remove the ad block from their messenger service.
Messenger should be a loss leader. A product that costs them money, but gets them happy customers/users in return. And happy users will stick to their brand.
Should set this next to google talk :P
Zzzzz!

Things you will learn if you listen:
1. Martin has a secret shoe addiction.
2. Alex W. isn’t trying to be a dick when he snores. No, REALLY!
3. Kristin is downplaying Seattle’s ATT 3G connection because she doesn’t want people moving here and clogging it up.
4. How to use the 2009 Word of the Year in conjunction with Windows Live Messenger 2010.
5. I don’t know enough about what is going on in technology internationally.
mKay, seriously, was fun and informative again this week. Great info on Dubai’s laws in relation to tech access, Fawzi, and thank you Ralf and Alex G. for the same info on Poland and Germany.
Personally, I would love to read or hear more about the international tech and issues surrounding it. (It seems to be coming out well in the podcast format.) Is the non-U.S. team considering writing from that angle at all?

Facebook really cares about privacy. It’s their top priority. Just look: http://gawker.com/5423914/the-…..-rollback/

It’s atrocious! Why didn’t they get some of the UI designers that made Windows 7 such a lovely OS to work on this? And I agree that the advert doesn’t really need to be there, and it does appear to keep getting bigger. That’s why I switched to Pidgin. :)
The person who sent these shots to Neowin had to block out all their personal data so they could not be identified by Microsoft for releasing early shots. So that is why you see all the spacing/missing elements.
When I first saw these pics I thought it was horrible until I realized what had happened.
A couple of things to keep in mind: we have no idea how long ago these shots were taken, and Windows live is not released so anything can change.
EKKKK:D!! its 2010 now;D. is this msn available to download now:-)?! YAY IF IT IS:D! xoxoxxo
