iTunes U now allows students to turn in homework from mobile devices

Apple is getting serious about education, launching new features for iTunes U that will allow teachers and students to work together digitally.

With the new-look iTunes U, students can turn in homework and other assignments right from a mobile device. Their work will carry a timestamp so teachers know exactly when it was submitted.

Integrated grading software will alert teachers when a student’s work is turned in, as well as which students may need a reminder to submit papers.

Teachers can also import educational apps into class material. A new chat function will take the classroom discussion digital, and give teachers a direct way to communicate with students as needed.

The update to iTunes U will begin rolling out today.
