Technology website Geeky Gadgets has received an insider tip detailing how much the Apple iPad will likely cost when it goes on sale in the UK. Currently, the UK Apple website still shows US pricing and a footnote reading: “Please note, pricing is in US dollars. International pricing will be announced at a later date.”
The unconfirmed source reported that the tablets would be priced as follows:
- 16GB WIFI will cost £389
- 32GB WIFI will cost £439
- 64GB WIFI will cost £489
There were no indications of how much the tablets with both WIFI and 3G would cost but there were suggestions that UK consumers can expect the iPad to launch in April.
We will update as soon as we hear anything more official.

If true, this would be better than the estimated pricing that MacWorld.co.uk gave -http://www.macworld.co.uk/mac/news/index.cfm?newsid=28478 (£388, £510 and £591)

If you look at the US prices and add in VAT (remember the US prices don't have sales tax) then it seems fair enough. Odds are the top end 64GB with 3G and wifi will be in the £600 region, which is a bit steep – unless it comes with (like the iPhone) some form of unlimited connectivity.
Once there's a 3G/wifi version under £400 I think I'll bite but before that? A bit steep for me.
iPod Touch 64Gb = £273
iPad 64Gb = £489
Good grief!
