IKEA Catalogue coming to an iPhone near you.
IKEA is releasing its ever popular catalogue as an iPhone app.
You’ll be able to browse frequently updated versions of the catalogue from the comfort of your bed, toilet seat, office, dinner table or wherever else you might use your iPhone.
While we haven’t had the chance to test the app just yet – release date is tomorrow – browsing the catalogue is pretty straight forward. Skim through images of various Ikea “rooms”, zoom in and out on areas of the room you’d like to sniff around and click on furniture you might like to buy.
Cake Group, the team behind the development of the app, are keen to point out that the app will improve and develop immediately after release, but ask that you share your thoughts and opinions via the channels below once you’ve had the chance to play.

The iPhone application will be initially launched to the UK market with the UK version of the catalogue available to download from tomorrow, 3 December 2009

Wow, that’s a good idea. Personally I’d like to be ultra smart and get it to take a picture of a room, and suggest coordinated ideas to tie the room together. That would be utterly awesome, and totally do-able app.

I must say that after stunning promotion IKEA on Facebook : http://bit.ly/62pT37 they are becoming slowly masters of social media in my eyes:) Congratulations Cake Group and hope there won’t be any problems with app!
Anyone knows for sure if this application is targeting the UK market only for IKEA, or it’s an initiative by IKEA Worldwide?
I found it available on the AppleStore Italy which is quite strange, in Italy there’s another local/ independent development already very popular…
