Samsung denies leaked smartphone and tablet rumours, appreciates the interest

Reports that Samsung was due to release a total of nine smartphones and two tablets have been publicly denied by the Korean vendor this morning, which has gone on record to say that whilst it is working on new devices the “details being cited are not accurate in this case”.

On Thursday, a Lithuanian retailer posted details of seven new Android smartphones, two Honeycomb tablets and two new Bada handsets, with one device drawing considerable interest thanks to its Nexus-like hardware specifications. Many outlets, including ourselves, acted on the reports and detailed the specifications.

However, Samsung – which doesn’t tend to publicly comment on new handsets and tablets – took to its Samsung Tomorrow blog to pur cold water on reports, thanking those who were interested in devices for their interest:

Some media have been reporting that Samsung is preparing to launch nine new smartphones and two new tablet devices. While Samsung is continuously working on new devices for our customers, the details being cited are not accurate in this case.

We appreciate the interest in our upcoming mobile devices and will share more information once its available.

That isn’t to say that Samsung isn’t working on some of the devices listed, it might just be dampening rumours on the number of smartphones that it intends to launch.

Samsung may debut some of its new devices at the IFA 2011 Conference in Berlin, commencing September 2.
