Google will want to do that anyway, because they're in the ad business, not the phone business. It's also quite clear now why Google recently added ads to their maps. As for me, I want my nav maps local, not in the cloud, and I don't want my directions ad-sponsored. So, no, Google's nav app is not for me. You don't want to get a enormous telephone bill while navigating on holiday (it is so easy to cross borders in Europe and switch from your local cellphone provider to a roaming and thus expensive solution).
