The Next Web

I want this (beautiful!) interactive trendmap too!

The popular DailyRadar website uses this interactive trendmap to show trends as they happen. Interactive and embeddable too!

Would love to have one of those for this site to show our readers which posts are hot and happening. Any suggestions on how to do that?

Hover over this image to see stuff happening. You can play with categories too:

  • Hi Boris, This looks like what i'm doing with my twitter trends site Twirus.com. The difference is that twirus.com records trends for twitter.com by region or language. Furthermore twirus uses the Google Charts API to show trends.

If you store thenextweb.com word cloud somewhere, you only need to save the top 10 each hour in a separate table. At least, that's what I do more or less.
  • Meee Tooo. Would love to know if you find someone to create one...
  • Hi Boris,

Very glad to hear of all the interest and enjoyment of the Trend Widget. We created the widget based on the data that our Blips news aggregator sites generate (check out blips.com for a list of sites).

I discussed building a version of the widget for individual blogs with our team and we were concerned that there wouldn't be enough data points to generate a meaningful visual representation. Did you have something specific in mind that you think could work?

    Best,
    Rahmin
