The future of ‘coloring in’ is here. Introducing the color picker pen.

By Zee on September 14, 2009

This is a little gem. A pen that lets you quickly scan any color from your general environment and automatically detect the color. The pen, using RGB ink cartridges in the pen, will then immediately let you draw with the selected color. How I wish I was into ‘coloring in’ again…

Pricing and availability hasn’t been announced yet, but rest assured, if there’s enough demand – we’ll see it out very soon.

  1. Wow! Got to get me one of those.

With RGB ink it will be a bit difficult reproduce colors accurately, I guess it should have been CMYK but that would not have fit as nicely in the pen.

  3. Thomas says:

Why not have a digital variant? … this would make it really easy importing colors to photoshop.

That is an understatement if ever I saw one. A pen like this cannot create yellow for instance. It’s a fantasy design by an inept designer. It looks cool though.

    this is completely useless.

lets say you scan something you need the color for. obviously you’re scanning it because you need THAT specific color.

if thats the case… then lighting (natural, indoor, etc) would play a LARGE part in what the color is, thus making this no better than a magic marker.

neat… but absolutely pointless – god knows how long those cartridges will last…

I invented a car fueled by water, no word on pricing or availability yet.
It will probably come out around the same time as the Amazing Real World Color Picker Pen.
