Twitter, the microblogging service, is gradually evolving its design on end user profile pages, and as we predicted at The Next Web recently, is now running advertisements for external services.
Today, we spotted an ad for ExecTweets running on Twitter.
TweetSense, here we come…
As we said:
… in the future – well, they are short, unobtrusive and perhaps easily able to adapt themselves to fit your tweeting style?
UPDATE: Advert now also spotted for Twittervision:

Exec tweets is brilliant for Mashable. Twitter and Microsoft seem to be getting the thin end of the wedge somewhat. Why Twitter is backing a 3rd party enterprise feels like they are just giving away their business model. Anyone else doubt that Twitter will reach profitability on revenue alone?
The new ads are cool. Wonder how long it will take before there are three ads in the sidebar….
Monetizing the service you offer is necessary to respect the community of users you have created, by ensuring they can go on using the service of platform. The question is “what business model”. PPC is not the only model, though – speculations have already been heard about a so-called “freemium” model for Twitter; third party paying models have also proved their worth. Livertising.vox.com reports an interesting ongoing discussion on Techcrunch.
I wonder how the adverising model will hold on all those apps that are created using the api.
And some of them use an advertising model too. Then we will have two ad models colliding. Not particular userfriendly.
According to this post on SitePro News by Kalena Jordan, “Twitter has gone into partnership with Microsoft and John Battelle’s advertising company Federated Media to create ExecTweets.”

Good stuff. I hope they make some cash out of it :)
