Last week Facebook announced their latest round of updates, bearing remarkable similarity to some of Twitter and Friendfeed’s trademark features.
The most notable change, for the average user at least, will be changes to the homepage. From real-time stream updates, to the publisher and enhanced filtering options – all added to supposedly enhance sharing between your friends.
We reviewed all the updates last week and Facebook provides a decent introduction to them in a post today. You can also a take a screenshot tour of the updates here. Come back and let us know your thoughts on the new feature, it will be interesting to see what everyone’s reactions are.

The changes are just AWFUL! I just posted about 15 bugs/problems with the site on their feedback section and hope that everyone will do the same when they are blessed with the new changes. (I was the only one on my friend list to get it tonight so no one even knows what I’m talking about when I’m asking where things are.)
They did not do this to make it easier for us to “get current info on our friends.” That’s what the live feed was for. They’re trying to make it a different application altogether. They need to be reminded that there’s a REASON Facebook has drawn so many users (specifically the non-teen generations.) And it’s because it was user friendly and was NOT a Myspace, cluttered up mess.
Well, now it is. And I for one have more important things to do that spend a half hour trying to see WHICH of my friends updated their music on iLike. Before, it was interesting to see something like that because it popped up in the live feed and I could choose to read it or not. Now I’ll choose to NOT.
Come on Facebook. Get a clue … and listen to the feedback that you claim to want. This will go over as good as your last snafu with the picture rights!
I think it’s a pretty good layout. The face that Twitter and Friend Feed is what they based their idea off of just goes to show that they are trying to keep up with the competition. I believe this is the third layout used by Facebook. It seems they can’t wrap their minds around a layout for their homepage that they like the most. Hopefully they have made their minds up about their new installment.
