LogMeIn have just announced the availability of Logmein Ignition, an iPhone/touch app which gives you access to you desktop from the palm of your hand.
According to LogMeIn the apps key features include:
- Fast, secure remote computer access: LogMeIn Ignition is able to securely store login information, shortening the time it takes to access remote PCs and Mac® computers from an iPhone and iPod touch. With 256-bit SSL encryption and patent-pending technology for direct, point-to-point connections, Ignition delivers optimal speed, trusted security and reliable performance.
- Easy to set up: Even the non-technical user can remotely access their computer using LogMeIn Ignition. There are no firewall settings to be updated, no router configurations to be made, no ports to be opened or re-routed, and no need for static IP addresses. Ignition provides simple connectivity without IT intervention.
- Easy to use: A full multi-function keyboard and touch-screen zoom and scroll control let users work with their remote computer as if they were sitting in front of it. Optional settings customize the experience of connecting to and controlling the remote computer, including locking the remote computer’s keyboard, blanking the screen of the remote computer and defining screen resolution.
At $29.99 (£17.99/20 Euro) though, it must easily be one of the most expensive iPhone apps out there. Considering I use a MBP with a screen when I’m at the office and as LogMeIn haven’t provided a press copy of the app just yet – forgive me if I wait to hear other peoples thoughts before forking out the best part of £20 for this one.
LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone and iPod touch is available immediately at the iTunes App Store.

Do you know if it works for the Mac too? I would think it does but the images here suggest otherwise.
I checked their site and although not very clear it looks like it works on Mac too. I seem to remember there are free/cheaper versions of this as well in the App store. I’ll do some research first…
there is cheaper solution to this, for OSX at least. OSX 10.4.0 and up come with built in remote dektop management (VNC server) which you can enable in system preferences. Only thing you need now is to download VNC client for iPhone (VNC lite from App Store) and thats it. You can control your desktop from iphone using WiFi.
Not sure for certain but I would have assumed they would have made it abundantly clear if not.
