A nice little discovery today in the form of a simple little webapp called GoingtoRain.com. You can probably guess what the site does. Visit and voila, there beholds the answer most of us want to know when we ask “what’s the weather like?”
The site detects where you’re located and I believe either says, “Yes”, “No” or “Maybe”.

that was kind of cute…it knew where I came from! :-)
Like it, cuts the chase and do what it does best.
I think there’s a setting for the Scottish Highlands:
might stop soon ;-)
Hey Salle
Your site says i’m on the sea :) (close to shore ‘do but will have to swim a bit)
That’s kind of cool.
Here is a site I have built that shows where you’re located using your IP or Mozilla Geode:
http://vartejag.nu (only in swedish for the moment)
This is a lot like UmbrellaToday.com, only simpler (and it even provides a mini forecast at the bottom). Haha, checking the weather doesn’t get cuter than that!
I think selling umbrellas is a good niche for them to explore. And mybe waterproof clothing… ;-)
It’s neat, but how are they going to make a living? Perhaps I should let them worry about that.
Yes, but there is already an umbrella version of this kind of site. The difference is you have to give it your zip code.
