Update LinkedIn Applications seem to dislike Firefox 3.01 and Safari 3.1.2 on my Mac - I can only get things to work with the Camino 1.6.4 browser. Seems to be an Ajax or Javascript bug that hides a layer of data.

I'm working on an application that will add drunken pics and escort / blind date service, disguised as a GPS-enabled business networking tool. ;-)

More seriously, I think this is a critical move for LinkedIn, and one that enables '2.0' features in what has always been a rather static entity. With the growth of Groups, Answers, and now carefully controlled / vetted Applications, I think LinkedIn will become a much more important and active site.

Those who are not using these applications, or adding their content from blogs and other online areas, will realise they probably have to get with the 21st century - as Tim Bray said in a recent interview here at The Next Web - "If you've got no online footprint, why am I going to hire you?"

Incidentally, I've already started a LinkedIn Group called BLiP: A Better Linked Profile to help you improve your online presence using LinkedIn- please join at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1128827
