Offers of up to $7000 pr month plus accommodation, in a society with a rich cultural heritage, excellent nightlife and a high threat level from kidnap and assassination attempts. These are factors that explain why CPO’s are now increasingly seeking their fortune in Mexico.

The close protection industry in Mexico is expected to grown significantly during the next few years, this is due not just from the increased threat from kidnappings, which are among the highest in the world with an estimated 3000+ kidnappings a year. But today; Mexico’s elite is also at threat from the much more rapidly growing number of assassinations.

Accordingly there were an estimated 1300 assassinations carried out in Mexico in 2004, an estimated 1800 assassinations in 2005 and so far the first nine months of 2006 have already passed the 1700 mark!

Who and Why.
The usual victims have been found among drug dealers and police officers involved one way or another in the drug trade, but today businessmen who have been unwilling to “assist” the drug cartels are increasingly finding themselves targeted as well.

Drug Cartels are now increasingly seeking the cooperation of major Mexican corporations in the import, storing, packing and transport of drugs to the US markets; simply because many of the corporations already have extensive and efficient transport and export systems in place.

However it is not just the prominent businessmen who really need private protection; as among the assassination victims are 16 state and federal police commanders, two judges handling drug cases and two federal prosecutors, all have been assassinated in 2006. Combine that with the eight local police chiefs who where assassinated in the State of Michigan; and one starts to realize the need for professional and hard to intimidate private CPO’s.

The Mexican CPO’s.
In Mexico there are currently very few professionally trained CPO’s, as the vast majority of Mexican CPO’s have traditionally been recruited from ex-military and ex-police locals, without any requests for prior CPO training or experience.

However as organized crime growth is constantly rising; Mexico’s rich, famous and powerful have found that their local CPO’s are neither skillful enough, nor fierce enough to resist the threats from the increasingly brutal Drug Cartel’s. I don’t blame them… as the drug cartels have no qualms about raping, torturing and murdering the family of any CPO who would dare resist them.

This year’s news has portrayed stories of kidnaps and assassinations, that have often been executed with either direct or indirect assistance from within the victims own CPO teams. The threat is highest along the traditional drug routes through Mexico; with the worst States being Quintana Roo, Michigan, Guerrero, Tamaulipas and Baja California Norte.

Among the more dangerous Cities is Mexico City, Tijuana and Nuevo Laredo, but this year even the tourist city Acapulco have been affected.

One of the major players in the drug war is the “Gulf Cartel”, who has their own “elite assassination cadre” known as the “Zetas”, a cadre consisting of former military Special Forces members’ gone rogue.

As the threat level in Mexico is increasing and Mexican CPO’s are too exposed to threats from organized crime groups; aimed not just at the CPO’s themselves but also towards their families and friends. The wealthy businessmen are finding that to ensure their own security, they can no longer rely merely on numbers, but are increasingly going to be dependent on the protection from well trained and professional CPO’s, who is not easy to intimidate or have an exposed family living in Mexico.

The WFB Mexico.
The Director of WFB Mexico, have through several meetings and consultations with influential businessmen, found that they are changing their views and are now increasingly looking for Western CPO’s to act as their TL or 2IC’s on their protective teams. Thus monthly salaries are being offered ranging from US $4000 to $7000 plus accommodation, which are definitely good payments compared to most of the world, albeit not quite at the Iraq level. But then the threat from roadside bombs and suicide attacks are not present either!

The WFB Mexico have often been requested by prominent businessmen to hold CPO courses in State’s such as Puebla, Michigan and San Luis Potosi. This is in order to train wealthy businessmen CP Team Leaders, as well as selected Police Officers. Such training includes Firearms training with Pistols and AR-15′s; as well as PSD, SOP’s and Counter Assault Team tactical training to counter assassination and kidnapping attempts.

Although these course are usually pre-ordered by prominent businessmen, there are usually also a few open spaces for private CPO’s who would like to complete their CPO training in Mexico and later go on to work in either in Mexico or one of the Central or South American countries.

Because of the low price on food and accommodation in Mexico, such courses can be offered at a very favorable price. Thus the course price for a 14 day high risk close protection course is only US $3400, and includes all expenses for accommodation, meals, weapons and ammunition etc.

Even if this is a low price by western standards, it is still four times more that what a wealthy businessman would usually be willing to pay for training of his bodyguard. Thus the fes businessmen who are willing to spend on their bodyguards training will clearly be at an advantage and be more likely to escape a assassination or kidnapping attempt.

The open connections in Mexico between prominent businessmen and the local police departments enable such courses to be held in full association with the police academies. WFB Mexico can therefore proudly claim to be one of the few private training organizations with direct access to official Police Academies.

This is of great importance to private students who will be training alongside members of the Police CP teams and Team Leaders from corporate CPO teams; this affects a greater learning process for all parties. During courses in Mexico the WFB arranges a course ceremony, held at the local Police Academy and attended by Politicians, High Ranking Police Officers and several VIP’s from Mexico’s corporate sector. This offers CP students an excellent opportunity to mingle and create contact, hand out business cards and seek employment contracts directly.

Among the high ranking business men attending the CP course ceremony are members of some of Mexico’s wealthiest families, many of them employ large RST and CPO teams, similar in size to those teams we have all heard about from the London circuit of Saudi, Omani and Gulf States dignitaries. One Mexican family, whose team I was part of teaching in 2002, had a RST and CPO team consisting of 60 security and close protection officers, that’s larger than most European Presidential teams!

The United States’ food and vitamin supply may not be as safe as we think, according to recent reports. This year’s pet food scare spurred intensive investigations into national regulations regarding human food and vitamin safety, and the findings were not good.

Many of the products creating the most serious problems are distributed nationally — from Texas, to New York, to Missouri, and in national supermarket, discount store, and drug store food chains. States such as Texas may be at particular risk, as many products are legally or illegally imported at the border. It is almost guaranteed that any major store in any town or city in the state, from Dallas, to Houston, to Austin, are likely to be carrying products imported from a country that has a track record of contaminated food and vitamins. The implications this has for the healthcare and health insurance industries, not to mention for public health in general, are astronomical. If a series of outbreaks do occur, it could prove especially detrimental to Texas, where 25% of its residents are uninsured, and the healthcare system is already overburdened.

According to Peter Kovacs, a food industry executive and consultant of forty years, “the U.S. is sitting on a powder keg,” ready for food contamination issues to explode. Many of the major national food producers are very careful about their products, he says. They’ve learned to trace their ingredients directly to their sources, and to test them regularly. This isn’t required, however, and many manufacturers don’t, particularly if the products are considered at lower risk — like pet foods.

This is precisely what happened when pet food was contaminated with a wheat protein from China. China, which is already building a reputation for exporting contaminated food and vitamins, exported wheat protein from companies that added melamine and cyanuric acid to up the apparent protein content and price. This supposed higher protein content is one of the major reasons the more expensive brands, like Iams, were hit so hard. Believing they were buying a more potent product, they, instead, ended up contaminating millions of pounds of food due to one ingredient.

Recalls are common — they just don’t always make national news. In recent months, there have been recalls on milk, olives, bottled water, bread, prepared fruit trays, melons, oysters, and peanut butter, for reasons varying from dangerous levels of salmonella, listeria, and arsenic, to wire fragments in the food. Last year’s national e-coli spinach scare stemmed from Natural Selection Foods in San Juan Bautista, CA, and lead is routinely found in vitamins and dietary supplements. An estimated 76 million fall prey to illness and 5,000 die every year in the U.S. due to food contamination.

Just this February, ConAgra foods recalled the widely-distributed Pan peanut butter due to salmonella content, which, in turn, was due to poor conditions at one of their plants. Europe just dodged a bullet when it discovered right before the product hit the market, that Chinese-manufactured vitamin A used to supplement infant formulas was contaminated.

A major part of the problem in the U.S. is the Food and Drug Administration’s gross underfunding and lack of control. Imports have doubled since 2002 to nine million shipments a year, and the FDA only has the resources to inspect one percent of them. Many of those imports originate from countries without strict controls on their products, and regular testing before they hit the American market does not occur.
Michael Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia, stated “…we’re not even close to having a system in place that gives assurance that the food is safe.” He should know. Two years ago, the FDA suspected Cold Stone Creamery was responsible for a salmonella outbreak in four states, but their painfully out-of-date labs couldn’t detect the bacteria. Samples were shipped to Doyle, whose lab did pick it up. The FDA simply “doesn’t have the resources,” he said.

Tirupati Balaji is accredited for being the most visited pilgrimages centers in India. It is located at the distance of 67 km away from Chittoor in Chittoor district of southern Andhra Pradesh and 170 km north east of Chennai. History of Tirupati Temple :

The history of Tirupati temple dates back to the 9th century when Pallavas, the rulers of Kancheepuram, established this shrine on the Tirumala hill. But the temple got recognized during the rule of the Vijayanagara rulers. It was during this time when the temple got lot of wealth. One of the Vijayanagar kings Krishnadevaraya installed idols of himself and his spouse at the portals of the Tirupati temple. They are still present in Tirupati along with a statue of Venkatapati Raya in the main temple. From 1843 to 1943 AD, the administrative activities of the temple were overseen by the Mahants of the Hatiramji Mutt. At present Tirumala Tirupati temple is managed and controlled by the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam). TTD has made special arrangements to comfort the pilgrims and to preserve the environment near the hills.

Architecture of Tirupati temple :

Tirupati Balaji is said to be one of th richest temple in the world. The temple present one of the finest examples of the Dravidian style of architecture. A lot of dynasties have contributed to the development of the Tirupati Balaji. The temple is adorned with the beautiful ‘gopuram’ or tower. The ‘Vimana’ or Cupola over the sanctum sanctorum is gliters with gold plate and is known as “the Ananda Nilayam”. The main highlight of the temple is the idol of Lord Venkateswara or ‘Venkataramana’ or ‘Srinivasa’ that has the attributes of both Vishnu and Shiva, preserving and destroying aspects of the Hindu trinity.

Sermons and Festivals :

Devotees make a visit to the Tirumala to see Venkateshwara, an avatar of Vishnu. The temple still practice the rituals and sermons that were prescribed by Ramanuja Acharya in the 12th century. The day starts with ‘Suprabhatam’ at 3 am in the morning and and ends with the ‘Ekanta Seva’ at 1 am during the night, when the Lord is made to sleep. Pilgrims are seen donating their hair to the deity, in gratitude for a wish fulfilled or to renounce ego – so hundreds of barbers attend to devotees.

Brahmotsavam’ is the most important festival of Tirupati, celebrated every year in the month of September for the period of continuous nine days. For the full nine days the whole town is seen lost in sacred touch of divinity.

My analysis shows that the retention of healthcare representatives is not much higher now then when I was a unit sales manager with them. Their life and annuity sales have remained consistent the last few years. Meanwhile, rapid growth is show in accident and health insurance premiums being collected.

The reason for tremendous growth in this area can be pinpointed opening up the distribution of its healthcare products to independent non-company affiliated brokers. Along with this, they are known for generous commission payouts and one to the top rated Medicare Supplement policies. There are companies that may be financially rated slightly higher. In this review, I would rate Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, even above many of them. The reason is strong company management, along with a smooth melding of captive representative offices and brokerage operations.

They should just quit being a direct internet provider of insurance directly to consumers. Plus there is no reason for them to not put up individual websites for United of Omaha, Companion Life Insurance Company, and World Life Insurance Company. This is a cheap, beneficial way to help policyholders locate these other companies.. Hope someone in Omaha is listening.

Listening to the negativity over the years, even I was shocked to find out there were so many closet watchers secretly hooked on BET Nightly News. I’ve gotten calls and emails from people all over the country upset about BET’s decision to cancel the program. Many of them say that BET is their only real connection to the Black community, and, for many organizations it is often the only TV coverage they receive.

It’s not just the over 40 crew tuning in each night for an update on what’s happening in Black America, young people of all nationalities are aware of current events in the Black world thanks to BET Nightly News.

After constant criticism of BET programming, the Black community was incensed when Robert Johnson made a savvy business move and sold the company to Viacom. As many people predicted, the nightly newscast hit the chopping block.

If we do not want all of Black media to fold or get sucked up by mainstream conglomerates, we must recognize that news is a product governed by the laws of supply and demand. The more we watch our own news, read and subscribe to our print publications and praise the work, the more that business can flourish.

Since slavery Black publications have been consistent advocates in our community and are still the first people called when there’s a problem. Unless it’s celebrity driven or blood ridden, mainstream press does not address our issues until there’s sufficient buzz created in the Black press.

For example, recently several stories appeared in the Black press about the lack of concern for missing Black women. Those stories resulted in coverage in mainstream media including USA Today. And, no one can deny the impact George Curry’s article on Kemba Smith had on her case and the criminal justice system as a whole.

For those of you who believe Black media has out-lived its usefulness, Richard Prince’s Journal-isms recently reported that The New York Times Co. is starting a Black newspaper in Gainesville, Fla. I’m not mad at the New York Times for their efforts to increase revenue by targeting the Black market; I’m sad that we do not recognize our own value and repeatedly take our struggling media institutions for granted.

There are Black publications – like the 100 year-old Chicago Defender – that have served as the voice of the community for years. Among those already in Florida are the Broward Times, Weekly Challenger, Westside Gazette, and Jacksonville Advocate; why would New York Times start their own Black newspaper in Florida?

Here’s a clue. Katherine Stapp of Inter Press Service recently reported that the first nationwide assessment of foreign-language and other ethnic media found that ethnic radio, television and newspapers in the United States now reach 64 million people. However, the article adds, Sandy Close of New California Media says “only three to four percent of the 145 billion dollars spent on U.S. advertising goes to ethnic media.” With these figures we can expect to see more profit-oriented mainstream publishers setting up shop to get a piece of the lucrative “ethnic” market.
