iPhone 2.0: will you be able to resist it, at $199?

Apple - iPhone - Gallery - 360I’m sure that if there would have been a ‘Buy’ button at my local Apple store for the new iPhone I would have clicked it today.

Check the new features:

3G, Push email, calendar, and contacts with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and new MobileMe patform. Maps with GPS which shows you where all your contacts are. New apps available through built in App Store. Only $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model.

Available everywhere in the world starting July 11. The only thing I gotta figure out is who will get what color here at home. I’m guessing white for Tessa to go with her MacBook and Black for me. What do you think?

Will you be able to resist?

I hope you like that post!

Word on the street (well, online anyway) is that the UK carrier O2, who have the rights to sell iPhone and provide airtime in the UK, will be giving away the iPhone 2.0 FOR FREE with an 18-month contract.

Yes, free. $0. £0. €0. Just pay for monthly usage.

Can we resist? I don’t think we can for much longer.

I clicked “where to buy” , and of course Taiwan isn’t listed even under the “coming soon” countries, go figure.

Sad, the thing is probably produced here. Seems I will have pick one up in Amsterdam over the summer holidays.

In the US you have to put up with AT&T to get the $200 price. I have given up on the network, and not even the iphone would make me go back — at least for the foreseeable future.

Well living in Europe I am sure the prices will be double of what they are going to be in the states.

Ebay or some good old friends can help then.

Peter, they specifically said $199 world wide. They really emphasized that…

    Boris I really hope so.
I am very skeptical though cos most things that are sold in the states have at least the same price number here with not the dollar sign(euro or pound)

You will be stuck with the carrier contract this time. The iPhone must be activated in store… no more taking home without a contract. But still fine by me, I already have T-Mobile and I’m in for a new phone.

$199 is a nice price (127 dutch euro’s). But I hate 24 month contracts with a provider. I think that T-Mobile (dutch authorized iPhone provide) will sell the iPhone only for 199 dutch euro’s and a 24 month during contract. If so, i’ll resist the new iPhone.

@Jeroen I think it depends on the price of the 24 month contract. If that is low enough (less than 10?) I might even consider it as an extra phone, just to surf and email. But if they charge us too much then you will be right…

@CasaMan oh, I gave Loïs an old WAP phone and Faye an old iMode phone last week. Took the battery out but they are constantly ‘calling’ each other with their phones now mimicking our real conversations. :-)

@Boris a 24 month contract with a montly fee below 10 dutch euro’s is not realistic. And I think that T-mobile even then will ask 199 euro for the iPhone.

I think that a 12 or 18 month contract with a 25 euro monthly fee and 127 euro’s for the iPhone is a better option (for me).

A 24 month contract is not an option for me, it feels to oppressive.
