Don’t worry. If you server runs PHP 4 it won’t stop working on February. But don’t expect any upgrades or support after this date from the official PHP community. It is time to upgrade to PHP 5 and to make sure you (or your webhost or server admin) do so the community is not looking back and now focusing fully on PHP 5.
So if you want to impress your local geek, nerd or sysop simply walk over and casually say: “I assume we are running PHP 5 now?”.

No serious, I think every self-respected sysop is already for a long time into PHP 5. Don’t forget PHP6 is also coming up :)

Did you guys update to PHP5 already? My WordPress configuration has trouble with it on some plugins.
Let’s wait and see how many sites will have trouble updating…
Don’t forget that critical security releases for the 4.4.x branch will still be available until 2008-08-08.
That said, I have been running PHP 5.x for at least 2 years now and haven’t had any problems at all with WordPress plugins, or any other critical software for that matter

PHP 5 works just perfect for me. Most hosting providers in The Netherlands have upgraded to this version now. It is stable and has lot more to offer than PHP 4.
